
Beijing Steel Plant Site Remediation Project
Project Profile: This project involves a typical steel plant contaminated site. The former site featured a complex network of underground pipelines and above-ground structures, with high concentrations of pollutants and deeply impacted soil strata. Located a mere 400 meters from the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Organizing Committee offices, the remediation had to be completed while ensuring the smooth progress of the Games.
Primary Contaminants: BTEX (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylenes), PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons), TPH (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons)
Technical Approach: In-situ Gas Thermal Desorption, Bioventing, Engineering Containment
