Hefei Steel Plant Site Remediation Project

Project Profile: This site, with a production history spanning 59 years, was established in 1958 as the Provincial Finance and Trade Steel Plant. It subsequently operated under different entities, including Hegang No. 2 Plant and Maanshan Iron & Steel (Hefei) Company, before the original Maanshan Iron & Steel (Hefei) Co., Ltd. was permanently shut down at the end of December 2015.

Primary Contaminants: BTEX (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylenes), PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons), TPH (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons)

Technical Approach: Ex-situ Gas Thermal Desorption, Ex-situ Chemical Oxidation, Ex-situ Soil Washing, Cement Kiln Co-processing
